The church

The Protestant village church Obersynderstedt in the district Obersynderstedt the city Blankenhain in the district Weimarer Land in Thuringia is surrounded by the God's acre centrally located in the village.

General

The small church, which was restored in 1981/82, stands out due to its light green facade with ocher corners and drapery, half-timbered gable and copper-covered tail hood . Outside there is a small bronze bell on two sturdy posts . A window on the south side with the year 1605 indicates the age of the church. Perhaps the year is an indication of one of the many modifications. At that time the church is said to have been even smaller. 1709 to 1712 when the baroque extension was built, it was extended a few meters to the west. The year 1709 is written above a door walled up as a window.

Furnishing

The bin is painted with a big angel , a blue sky , clouds and banners. The galleries one be apostles and prophets presented with biblical scenes. The pulpit replaced the carved altar in the middle of the 18th century . The organ was donated by Heinrich Loth in 1832 . In 1882 the extended 14th century niche in the south wall was restored. Old carved drawings on the north wall showed pagan fertility symbols . The Christians later carved a cross on it.
