history

Marlishausen is a very old village. The first documentary mention falls in the year 779. At that time the place was called "Marholtesheim". Other forms of name in documents were Maroldeshusen or -husun , and Marlitzhausen . The Marlishaus church of St. Petri and Pauli is one of the oldest churches in the area. It was first mentioned in 1119. It was an early Romanesque fortified church, which has its origins in a chapel which makes up the eastern part of the ship and which was used by the Kalandsherren, a religious brotherhood of clergy and lay people. The church tower was built in 1721 after its predecessor had been demolished the year before due to dilapidation.

In 1838, the local pastor Johann Samuel Ferdinand Blumröder founded the infant care facility , one of the oldest kindergartens in the world. This facility was sponsored by Prince-Mother Caroline von Schwarzburg and Princess Mathilde von Schwarzburg-Sondershausen . In order to maintain the facility, the residents were obliged from 1854 to have their children looked after in this facility. When the building was later used as a classroom, this kindergarten was closed in 1920 and later set up in another building. The house that still exists today was used as a day nursery, residential building and later as a restaurant. There is currently a general practice in it. The local kindergarten is therefore the third oldest in Europe after facilities in Budapest and Fürth . It also exists two years longer than Friedrich Fröbel's kindergarten in Keilhau near Rudolstadt .

Marlishausen belonged to the Käfernburg office and after its abolition until 1920 it belonged to the Arnstadt office in the sovereignty of the principality and free state of Schwarzburg-Sondershausen . After the creation of the state of Thuringia , the village belonged to the district of Arnstadt , after the dissolution of the states in the GDR in 1952 to the district of Arnstadt in the district of Erfurt . Districts during this time were Ettischleben and Hausen (both from May 20, 1963). The place went on March 25, 1994 in the municipality Wipfratal , which belongs to the Ilm district . The aim was to become the community seat as by far the largest place, but could not prevail against the more centrally located Branchewinda .

On January 1, 2019, Wipfratal was incorporated into Arnstadt.

Economy and Transport

Marlishausen is an agricultural place. Here is a stud station of the Moritzburg State Stud . In addition, there were many mills here due to the location on the Wipfra. Today, many Marli houses work in Arnstadt or the northern state capital Erfurt .

Marlishausen is about 300 meters east of the A 71 exit Arnstadt-Süd . The Nuremberg – Erfurt high-speed line also passes this place . Since 1894 Marlishausen has had a station on the Arnstadt – Saalfeld railway line (course book route 561). It has been served every hour by the regional trains of the Erfurt Railway since June 2012 , which travel to Erfurt and Saalfeld / Saale without changing trains. Roads lead to Arnstadt, Stadtilm , Bösleben-Wüllersleben , Alkersleben , Hausen and Branchewinda.

The next airfield for small aircraft is a few kilometers north in Alkersleben, the nearest airport is around 23 km away in Erfurt .

At the end of 2006, a wind farm was built east of the village, which so far has eight wind turbines.
