Mathilde zu Hohenlohe-Öhringen (born July 3, 1814 in Öhringen , † June 3, 1888 in Mirabell Palace in Salzburg ) was a princess of Schwarzburg-Sondershausen .

Life

Mathilde was the daughter of Prince Friedrich August II of Hohenlohe-Öhringen (1784-1853) and his wife, Duchess Luise von Württemberg (1789-1851).

She married Prince Günther Friedrich Karl II. Von Schwarzburg-Sondershausen on May 29, 1835 in Öhringen and became the Hereditary Princess as his second wife, and a short time later on August 19, 1835, Princess of this small state. The marriage was divorced again in 1852.

It is thanks to Mathilde that Sondershausen was soon able to develop into an important cultural center. She is considered the discoverer and great supporter of the successful author Eugenie Marlitt from Arnstadt , who was her partner and reader for a long time. She found her final resting place in the "Fürstengruft" in the old cemetery in Arnstadt.

progeny

From her marriage to the prince she had the following two children:
