history

Kettmannshausen is first mentioned in a document in 1450. W. Kahl proves that Kettmannshausen was first mentioned in documents from 1360-1366.

The Vicarie Chapel of St. Nicolaus was built in 1180. The lower wall of the church and the apse date from the Romanesque period. In the roof turret, which was built in 1768, there is a small bell with the year 1491.

The place Kettmannshausen, which was an exclave of the Duchy of Saxe-Gotha in the Blackburg suzerainty , originally belonged to the Lords of Witzleben zu Liebenstein .
