Görbitzhausen is a district of the city of Arnstadt in the Ilm district ( Thuringia ) with 36 houses.

location

To the west of the village, Kreisstraße 2 and the federal highway 71 pass. The Wipfra flows through the village . The Kirchberg , an elevation near Görbitzhausen, is a meadow landscape with a path to the church . The linden tree standing there was planted in 1896 on the 350th birthday of Martin Luther . To the south of the village the Mosser flows into the Wipfra . The Mosser rises near Reinsfeld on the Haselkuppe and flows through Branchewinda to Görbitzhausen.

history

The place was first mentioned in 1186 on the occasion of the exchange of a wood in "Gerbrechtishusen". Until 1918 the place belonged to the sovereignty of the principality of Schwarzburg-Sondershausen .

On August 1, 1975, the place was incorporated into the community of Dannheim and reclassified together with this on March 25, 1994 in the new community of Wipfratal . On January 1, 2019, Wipfratal was incorporated into Arnstadt.

church

The branch church of the parish of Dannheim, “St. Johannis ”is the dominant word on the Kirchberg. It is of Romanesque origin, but characterized by baroque renovations. It has not been used since 1969. The last wedding ceremony took place here in 1969, and the church has been closed since then. In recent years, the roof has been given a new look so that it now looks intact from the outside. Since 2004, church services have been held irregularly again. "New" windows that were ordered and delivered in the 1980s are currently to be installed. At that time they were not installed because the church was structurally blocked. Today there is a contradiction on the part of the upper monument protection authority in Erfurt. In the church wall stones have been processed with years and names / letters that could indicate the origin. (See gallery)
