history
Tüngeda was first mentioned in 774 in the Hersfeld list of goods Breviarium Sancti Lulli as Dungede . In 860 the Franconian nobleman Erphold was named as the first count in Tonna. He is also considered the founder and namesake of Erfurt . King Ludwig the German had given him the place. However, the sex with Erphold died out in the same year. Shortly before his death, he is said to have given his possessions in the grave field and in the upper Eichsfeld to the abbey of Fulda and the Würzburg monastery. In this document Tüngeda ( Tungide ) is also mentioned. In a deed of gift dated May 18, 874, Tungide, along with other 116 places in Thuringia, is mentioned as the Fulda Abbey. Archbishop Liubert zu Mainz as well as Abbot Sigehard zu Fulda asserted the right to raise the tithe for themselves. The dispute over this was decided by King Ludwig the German (840–876) at the court of Ingelheim in favor of the Fulda Abbey.
From 1321 a part of Tüngeda belonged to the Lords of Wangenheim . The other part was owned by the gentlemen von Erffa , it came to the Wangenheimers only in 1580. From 1640 Tüngeda belonged as part of the Wangenheim Court to the Duchy of Saxe-Gotha , from 1672 to Saxe-Gotha-Altenburg . In 1743 Obergut in Tüngeda came to the Lords of Uechtritz (Fuga line). In 1771 they also acquired the Untergut. Tüngeda belonged to the Duchy of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha from 1826 and to the State of Thuringia from 1920 . Tüngeda was part of the Gotha district from 1922 to 1952 . During the district reform in the GDR the place became part of the Bad Langensalza district and during the district reform in Thuringia in 1994 it became part of the Wartburg district . On July 1, 1999, it was incorporated into Behringen , which was added to the Hörselberg-Hainich community on December 1, 2007. The district of Tüngeda had 552 inhabitants in 2007.
Evangelical Church (Congregation)
The Evangelical Lutheran parish of Tüngeda (Wangenheim parish office) joined 10 other evangelical parishes on January 1st, 2013 to form the Ev. Emmausgemeinde Goldbach-Wangenheim merged. Church services and events take place regularly and enrich village life (e.g. Thanksgiving, St. Martin, music afternoons in spring and in Advent). The Protestant Christians who came to Tüngeda from Bessarabia as part of the resettlements in the National Socialist German Reich shaped Protestant life in Tüngeda for decades, especially during the GDR era.
