Hastrungsfeld is a district of the Thuringian municipality Hörselberg-Hainich in the Wartburg district .

geography

The place Hastrungsfeld is located on the northeast slope of the Hörselberge and is part of the Nessetal . The highest point is the Alte Wacht at the main entrance to the Großer Hörselberg. Federal motorway 4 has been running between Hastrungsfeld and the Burla district since 2010 .

history

The place Hastrungsfeld was first mentioned in 1143 as Hastrofeld . The interpretation of the place name should indicate a peculiarity of the area - the name Hastrungsfeld describes a region where (noticeably many) hornbeams grow.

The place became known with a founding legend. The English Queen Reinschwig had received a message in a dream that her deceased husband would languish in hell on the Great Hörselberg. Thereupon she went in search of this place and founded the place Hastrungsfeld with the building of a church, which was quickly expanded to a monastery. In fact, the Hastrungsfelder Church can point to a great age and is essentially a Romanesque building. However, due to the lack of written records, it is doubted that there was an early monastery complex in the village, which was later incorporated into the Nikolaikloster in Eisenach.

For unknown reasons, Hastrungsfeld was owned by the Counts of Orlamünde in 1321 and was sold to the Lords of Wangenheim , making the place one of their Wangenheim courts . The Wangenheimers, who were part of the Thuringian land nobility, received their possession confirmed by feudal contracts, and a corresponding document for the year 1421 with the name of Hastrungsfeld can be documented. In the Nessetal there was a change in ownership in favor of the Lords of Herda , who are also known as the lords of the Brandenburg castle near Lauchröden . With Wenigenlupnitz and Ettenhausen, Hastrungsfeld becomes the third place in which they appeared through lien.

On January 1, 1957, Hastrungsfeld was merged with the neighboring village of Burla to form the municipality of Hastrungsfeld-Burla . In 1996 it was incorporated into the municipality of Hörselberg , with which the place became part of the municipality of Hörselberg-Hainich in 2007.

Economy, infrastructure and transport

Hastrungsfeld is a place characterized by agriculture, one relies on gentle tourism. The Frau-Holle-Haus belongs to the village, from there the main path leads to the summit plateau of the Großer Hörselberg with the Hörselberghaus . The closest motorway connection is around two kilometers away at Sättelstädt. There is a connection to rail traffic at the Sättelstädt stop of the Thuringian Railway .
