Hans Olden (writer)
Hans Olden (born June 5, 1859 in Frankfurt am Main , † May 23, 1932 in Wiesbaden ; real name: Hans Oppenheim , former name: Johann August Oppenheim ) was a German writer .
Life
He attended the model school up to Obertertia in Frankfurt, then the secondary school in Falkenberg in the Mark and studied chemistry and natural sciences at the Polytechnic in Stuttgart. He then became an actor and played in heroic roles at the Court Theater in Kassel and at the Deutsches Theater in Berlin, at the Lobetheater in Breslau and at the German Court Theater in St. Petersburg. From 1888 he lived as a freelance writer in Berlin, Weimar and Munich.
His Shakespeare translations, written for the stage, are best known .
He is the father of Rudolf and Balder Olden .
