Hans Rehmstedt (born November 17, 1909 in Wesermünde , † 1956 in Hanover ) was a German musician and orchestra conductor.

Life

In the early 1930s, Rehmstedt studied violin at the Berlin University of Music . Then he began to play in Berlin dance orchestras . Little by little he formed his own dance orchestra, which soon got an engagement at Café Uhlandeck; In 1938 it had grown to eleven musicians and, in the successor of Eugen Wolff, became the house band of the Berlin Eden Hotel . In 1940 Rehmstedt founded a smaller formation ( Hans Rehmstedt and his soloists ), but continued to make studio recordings with a big band. Rehmstedt's recordings were published under the record brands Electrola and Columbia . With them Rudi Dreyer , Henriette Schäffler , Peter Igelhoff , Rudi Schuricke and Horst Winter appeared as refrain singers . One of his best-known recordings is from 1938 "In Lambert's night bar".

In the post-war period, Rehmstedt found it difficult to gain a foothold again. He took up a position as orchestra conductor at Radio Bremen , but died in Hanover in the mid-1950s as a result of a car accident.
