Rudi Schuricke

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Rudi Schuricke (born Erhard Rudolf Hans Schuricke ; born March 16, 1913 in Brandenburg an der Havel , † December 28, 1973 in Munich ) was a German singer and actor. At times he also appeared under the pseudonyms Michael Hofer and Rudolf Erhard . Later, when he was already successful, friends and colleagues often called him Rudicke .

Life and work

When his father became military bandmaster in Königsberg , the Schuricke family moved there, and Rudi Schuricke also attended school there. He then trained as a druggist and also worked as a newspaper seller and chauffeur. He also studied singing and took acting lessons.

Kardosch singer

By chance he got a singing engagement. When a member of the Kardosch singers (a group of his singing teacher Istvan Kardos ) dropped out of a live radio broadcast , he stepped in and stayed with the group from then on until Istvan Kardos emigrated . The line-up consisted of Zeno Costa (1st tenor), Rudi Schuricke (2nd tenor ), Fritz Angermann (baritone), Paul von Nyiri (bass) and Istvan Kardos (piano).

Schuricke trio and solo career

Shellac record "Am Lago di Garda", 1951

After singing with the Spree Revellers for some time , he formed the Schuricke Trio in 1936 . Rudi Schuricke also sang alone as a chorus singer, where he can be heard in the studio recordings of numerous German swing orchestras (such as that of Max Rumpf or Corny Ostermann ). One of the well-known swing recordings with Willy Berking is the piece, composed by Adolf Steimel and Ralph Maria Siegel , The men are already worth love! With Berking he also recorded the Tango Señor and Señorita composed by Peter Kreuder for the UFA revue film Traummusik, which was released in 1940 . In addition to this activity, he also lent his voice to film actors.

In 1943 Schuricke recorded the tango song Capri-Fischer composed by Gerhard Winkler and written by Ralph Maria Siegel for the first time. The performance was banned a short time later, as the course of the war caused Italy to drift away from Germany.

Further career

It was not until 1949 that he had one of his greatest successes with Capri-Fischer . With this title he received a gold record as one of the first interpreters in Germany after the war . With other titles such as O mia bella Napoli , Let us dream on Lake Maggiore , Women and Wine , Spring in Sorrento , Florentine Nights and the self-composed Tarantella , he achieved top positions in the charts in the 1950s.

With the advent of rock music , Rudolf Schuricke gradually disappeared from the hit stage. He now worked as a hotelier and ran a laundromat in Munich . An attempted comeback in 1970 was only brief, but very successful . With two melodies by James Last There is only one love like this and And when snow falls on the roses , it climbed the charts again. Having died of a stroke at the age of 60 , he was buried in the cemetery in Herrsching am Ammersee .
