Hans Richter (born March 25, 1891 in Dresden , † April 28, 1977 in Karl-Marx-Stadt ) was a German watercolor painter and draftsman .

Life

Hans Richter, who was born in Dresden and lives in Karl-Marx-Stadt / Chemnitz, captured the pre-war Schemnitz in his watercolors and drawings, as did the city that was destroyed in the Second World War and the subsequent reconstruction. In 1949 the Schloßbergmuseum Chemnitz showed an exhibition of his pictures, which at that time was visited by almost two thousand Chemnitz residents. His regular participation in the Central Saxon art exhibitions from 1948 to 1958 made a large audience familiar with his detailed works, which were also dedicated to the immediate changes in the city. In the picture books of the Schloßberg Museum "Our hometown in pictures",which appeared at the end of the 1950s, Hans Richter was also represented with his work. In 2002 the Schloßbergmuseum showed another exhibition, this time under the name “At home and on the move”. As a result, the Schloßbergmuseum bought 233 sheets from his private collection, which contain a representative selection of the life phases, motifs and techniques of the artist and thus a cross-section of his work. The special features include portfolios with works that were created during long journeys through Europe.
