Hans Schabram

Hans Schabram (born September 27, 1928 in Berlin ) is a German English student who specializes in English medieval studies.

Schabram studied English, German and comparative linguistics in Berlin and Cologne, where he in 1954 with a study of the adjectives in mind the district of "bold, courageous, brave" in the Anglo-Saxon poetry to Dr. phil. received his doctorate. His habilitation in Gießen in 1964 was followed by an appointment as full professor at the university there. In 1968 Schabram moved to the Georg-August-Universität Göttingen as a full professor for English language and literature in the Middle Ages , where he worked until his retirement.

Schabram researched the old English vocabulary as well as the dialectal and temporal distribution of the vocabulary and published numerous articles in specialist journals. Since 1971 he has also been a full member of the Academy of Sciences in Göttingen .
