Hans Schellenberger

Hans Schellenberger (born January 7, 1943 ) is a German sports psychologist and university professor .

Life

Schellenberger studied at the German University for Physical Culture (DHfK) in Leipzig ; The title of his diploma thesis, submitted in 1967, was "The development of a procedure for recording the stress experienced and checking it in the training of medium and long-distance runners". In 1975 he completed his PhD A at the DHfK (subject: “Sports psychological studies of performance-influencing components in the national soccer team of the GDR in preparation for the 1974 World Cup”) and in 1980 his PhD B (subject: “History of German Sports Psychology up to 1945 and its development in the DDR "). He then held a professorship at the Institute for Performance Psychology at DHfK. In November 1989 Schellenberger became the spokesman for a professional association for sports psychology in the GDR. Later on, Schellenberg worked, among other things, as a lecturer at training courses for sports associations and at sports conferences.

Schellenberger is the author of the book "Psychologie im Sportspiel", published in 1981, and in 1990 he published the English-language work "Psychology of team sports". In his sports psychological research work, he dealt with the topics of “social relationships in sports game teams”, “processing action-relevant signals in sports game situations”, psychological performance requirements, speed of action, concentration, self-confidence and self-confidence and the complex “sport - violence - fairness”.
