Hans Schmidt (artist)
Hans Schmidt (born August 4, 1951 in Salzburg ) is an Austrian artist .
Life and education
Hans Schmidt has lived in Seekirchen since he was born , where he also attended school. From 1965 to 1970 Schmidt did an apprenticeship with an interior designer in Salzburg and made his first artistic attempts at painting, etching and sculpture . From 1971 he worked for a fashion company. In 1975 Schmidt received a scholarship for the International Summer Academy for Fine Arts and took part in a sculpture class by Wander Bertoni, bronze cast by Josef Zenzmaier. His son was born in 1981.
In 1997, Schmidt began for the first time with "wood layers", the design of figures and objects based on waste wood. With layers based on industrial waste from the parquet wood industry, he became known to a broader public in 2000 with the exhibition Zeithüllen . Then the first layers of figures emerged, which from now on he continuously developed, often presented in groups of up to 15 life-size figures.
In 2002 he started his own business as a visual artist.
In 2002 and 2006, Schmidt took part in the international biennale for fine arts Austria, Hüttenberg in Carinthia with a 15-part group of figures. In 2004 Schmidt rebuilt his studio in Seekirchen.
In 2018 he took up painting again.
