Hans Schmidt Petersen

Hans Schmidt Petersen (* 1962 in Alsen ) is a Danish-German author .

life and work

Hans Schmidt Petersen grew up on the Danish island of Alsen and belongs to the German minority in Denmark . After graduating from high school in 1981 at the German Gymnasium for North Schleswig in Aabenraa , he studied economics and law in Germany until 1987. After his state examination, Hans Schmidt Petersen worked in the foreign departments of various banks, was a tour guide and freelance writer. In 1993 he published his debut novel Den lodne Bøg in Danish , for which he was awarded the Bogforums Debutantpris . A number of detective novels in German followed. In 1999 he received the Marlowe Prize of the German Raymond Chandler Society for the crime thriller Der Täuscher . From 1995 to 2004 he worked exclusively as an author and writer. Schmidt Petersen has lived in Berlin since 1995 and worked at the Royal Danish Embassy between 2004 and 2007. Since then he has been a freelance writer again.
