From 1989 teaching activity in the field of art at the Carl-Strehl-Schule in Marburg, the only elementary high school for blind and visually impaired students in German-speaking countries. Since 1987 exhibition activity as a sculptor with a focus on kinetic art and member of the artist group “Werkstatt Radenhausen”.

Artistic concept and work

Hans Schohl is a sculptor and machine builder. He has been constructing kinetic objects since 1985. While it was initially engine-driven, noisy, adventurous machinery inspired by the scrap sculptures by the Swiss artist Jean Tinguely , the objects of recent years are smaller, more filigree, the movements lighter, more fleeting, at times incidental. Increasingly, the kinetic objects no longer stand on their own, but are integrated into space-consuming installations. The thematic focus is on celestial mechanics . Since the late 1990s, the projection of shadows has become increasingly important. Small light sources draw the shaky, silent movements of the fragile celestial and world machines on the wall - the world becomes shadow theater . In the course of European cultural history , shadows have repeatedly been the subject of reflection on the existence and appearance of the world.
