Kordíky (Hungarian Kordéháza - until 1888 Kordik ) is a municipality in the center of Slovakia with 474 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019) and belongs to the Okres Banská Bystrica , a district of the Banskobystrický kraj .

geography

The community is located on the eastern slope of the Kremnica Mountains in the source area of Kordícky potok . The Starohorské vrchy rise further to the east . The center of the village lies at an altitude of 849  m nm and is eleven kilometers from Banská Bystrica .

Neighboring municipalities are Dolný Harmanec in the north, Harmanec in the east, Riečka in the southeast, Tajov in the south and Turček in the west.

history

A settlement was established in the 16th century at the suggestion of the Neusohler Bergkammer and consisted of a few charcoal burners that supplied huts in places like Tajov. Historical information is scarce until the 19th century, with the names Kordik and Kordíky only being recorded in 1808 . In 1828 there were 40 houses and 291 inhabitants who were employed as forester and cattle keeper after the collapse of the charcoal factory.

Until 1918 the place in Sohl County belonged to the Kingdom of Hungary and then came to Czechoslovakia or today Slovakia.

population

According to the 2011 census, Kordíky had 357 residents, including 336 Slovaks , six Magyars , three Czechs and one German . Three residents indicated a different ethnic group and nine residents gave no information about the ethnic group .

215 residents committed themselves to the Roman Catholic Church, eight residents to the Evangelical Church AB, seven residents to the Evangelical Methodist Church; five residents professed a different denomination. 84 residents had no denomination and 38 residents had no denomination.

Transport and infrastructure

In Kordíky the eastern part of the 2nd order street 578 begins, which connects the village with Banská Bystrica. There is no direct connection with the piece beyond the main ridge of the Kremnitzer Mountains.
