history

The place was mentioned in writing for the first time in 1455 as Reczke and was created in the early 15th century on the territory of Neusohl. Late medieval and early modern names are Rechka (1473), Riczka (1489), Riczkadorf (1490) and Reczka (1516). The village and the surrounding area were owned by the influential Karl and Jung families from Neusohl in the 15th century, by the Thurzo family between 1496 and 1546 , and then by the Neusohler Bergkammer. Due to existing mines and smelters in the area, Riečka was integrated into these economic sectors well into the 19th century. In 1828 there were 84 houses and 623 inhabitants who were employed as farmers, fruit growers, but also as miners and workers in the surrounding huts.

Until 1918 the place in Sohl County belonged to the Kingdom of Hungary and then came to Czechoslovakia or today Slovakia.
