history

The place was first mentioned in writing in 1465 as Saiba and was probably built in the late 14th century as a village in the territory of the then mining town of Libethen. Both the current and the former name are reminiscent of riflemen who were supposed to protect the city and who lived in the village. During the Ottoman occupation of Hungary in the 16th and 17th centuries, the village was threatened several times as a preliminary stage to the city of Libethen and looted in 1577 and 1580.

In 1828 there are 81 houses and 609 inhabitants. After the abolition of serfdom in 1848, the subject relationship ended, but the administration was not introduced until 1886.

Until 1918 the place in Sohl County belonged to the Kingdom of Hungary and then came to Czechoslovakia or today Slovakia. During the Slovak National Uprising , partisans were active around the place.
