Povrazník (German Seilersdorf , Hungarian Póráz - until 1888 Povraznik ) is a municipality in the center of Slovakia with 141 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019) and belongs to Okres Banská Bystrica , a district in Banskobystrický kraj .
geography
The village is located in the mountainous part of the Zvolenská kotlina basin on the northern slope of the Poľana Mountains, in the source area of the Driekyňa brook . The center of the village is at an altitude of 670 m nm and is 28 kilometers from Banská Bystrica .
Neighboring communities are Ľubietová in the north, Strelníky in the east and Poniky in the south and west.
history
The place probably originated in the 14th century and was first mentioned in writing as Powraznik in 1424 . The village was part of the estate of Liptsch Castle , which was donated to Barbara von Cilli , second wife of Emperor Sigismund , in a legal act that year . The village owes its name to the presence of rope makers who delivered their products to mines near Libethen and Altgebirge . From 1465 to 1848 Povrazník was the subject village of the then free mountain town of Libethen. In 1828 there were 20 houses and 156 inhabitants who were employed as farmers, cattle keepers and forest workers, after the establishment of the ironworks in Podbrezová they also worked there.
Until 1918 the place in Sohl County belonged to the Kingdom of Hungary and then came to Czechoslovakia or today Slovakia.

According to the 2011 census, 154 people lived in Povrazník, including 143 Slovaks and one Russian . 10 residents gave no information on ethnicity .
102 residents supported the Evangelical Church AB and 26 residents supported the Roman Catholic Church. 10 residents had no denomination and the denomination of 16 residents was not determined.
