Sebedín-Bečov is a municipality in the center of Slovakia , with 362 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019) and belongs to Okres Banská Bystrica , a district of Banskobystrický kraj .
geography
The village is located in the mountainous part of the Zvolenská kotlina basin in the traditional Podpoľanie landscape by the Zolná brook . The center of the village is at an altitude of 365 m nm and is 12 kilometers from Zvolen and 16 kilometers from Banská Bystrica .
Neighboring municipalities are Čerín in the north, Hrochoť and Očová in the east, Zvolen ( Zolná district ) in the south, Sliač (Sampor district) in the southwest, Lukavica in the west and Dolná Mičiná in the northwest.
history
Today's municipality was created in 1964 through the merger of the previously independent villages Sebedín (Hungarian Szebedény - until 1888 Szebedin ) and Bečov (until 1927 in Slovak also "Bačov"; Hungarian Becsó ).
Sebedín was first mentioned in writing in 1406 as Zebenyn , but it originated in the 14th century. The village was part of the domain of the Vígľaš castle , from the 16th century Sebedín was a place owned by the landed nobility. Around 1668 the village was subject to tribute to the Ottoman Empire. In 1828 there were 32 houses and 273 inhabitants in the predominantly agricultural town.
Bečov was first mentioned in writing as Beczov in 1582 . Around 1582 and 1657 the village had to pay tribute to the Ottoman Empire. In 1828 there were 21 houses and 156 inhabitants who were employed as grain traders and farmers.
Until 1918, the places in Sohl County belonged to the Kingdom of Hungary and then came to Czechoslovakia or now Slovakia.

According to the 2011 census, Sebedín-Bečov had 373 residents, 321 of whom were Slovaks and 16 Roma . One resident indicated a different ethnic group and 35 residents gave no information about the ethnic group .
180 residents committed to the Evangelical Church AB, 89 residents to the Roman Catholic Church, eight residents to the Greek Catholic Church and one resident to the Evangelical Methodist Church; seven residents professed a different denomination. 43 residents had no denomination and the denomination of 45 residents was not determined.
