Hans Somers (born March 9, 1978 in Mechelen ) is a Belgian football player . He has been without a club since summer 2010.

Career

Somers played for VC Rijmenam in his youth before moving to the youth department of Lierse SK . In the 1996/97 season, the midfielder rose to the club's professional squad, where he made three appearances in the Jupiler League in the first year . After the end of the season Somers was able to win the Belgian championship with Lierse. 1999 followed the success in the cup competition. In the following years he developed into a regular force and stood out for being dangerous. This did not go unnoticed by other teams outside Belgium and so it came to Turkey in the summer of 2001 . There he signed with Trabzonspor . After a good first year in the Süper Lig , a less successful one followed. The club was able to win the Turkish Cup. After three years at Hafenstadtklub, Somers moved to the Netherlands , to FC Utrecht . Previously, the cup success of the previous year was defended. Since then he has been part of the permanent staff in Utrecht and is one of the main pillars in the team. Immediately after his arrival at FCU , the Johan Cruyff Schaal was won. For the first time in the history of the competition, not one of the three greats ( PSV Eindhoven , Ajax Amsterdam , Feyenoord Rotterdam ) won.

After the end of his contract, he has been without a club since summer 2010.
