Hans Stutte

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Hans Stutte , also Stute , Studt , Stubbe , Staudte († before 1625 in Lübeck ), was a German draftsman and painter.

Life

Not much is known about Hans Stuttgart's life. Presumably he was a journeyman in Lübeck in 1609. A painting came from that year, probably his masterpiece, which was still hanging on the south side in the inner choir of the Maria Magdalenen Church (Lübeck) in 1743 , but was no longer mentioned in 1787. On May 10, 1610 he presented his masterpiece with two other painters, the elderly people of the office of painters and the gentlemen of the bet , which was recognized as good. With that he became a master. On March 5, 1618 he acquired the citizenship of the Free Imperial City of Lübeck.

Works

The Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City owns three and the National Gallery of Art one drawing by Stutte, all of which are currently in the depot.
