Hanse (ship, 2017)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

In 2017, the Hanse was the largest inland waterway vessel that can sail on the Elbe Lateral Canal .

history

The inland vessel (callsign DC9353) whose hull was delivered by VOS Kaiser and built at Santierel Naval in Orșova , Romania , was handed over from the Kötter shipyard to the operator Henning Jahn from Magdeburg in June 2017 . This new building is the fifth ship of the Jahn family named Hanse .

Technical specifications

The ship is 100 m long, 11.4 m wide and has a draft of 2 m. The deadweight is 2,900 t. Two four-stroke diesel engines of the Caterpillar C32 Acert type, each with an output of 560 kW, are used for the drive . Two John Deere 3029 diesel generators with 30 kVA each and a John Deere 4045 diesel generator with 65 kVA are used for the power supply. The Hanse fills up with GtL fuel (Gas to Liquids), which is considered to be particularly low in soot. The bow thruster is powered by a 500 hp John Deere diesel engine. The Hanse can stack containers in four layers and has a capacity of 192  TEU .

Shipping area

The Hansa is the largest ship that can sail on the Elbe Lateral Canal and is one of the Scharnebeck-Max ships. It stacks the boxes on board in two layers on the Elbe Lateral Canal and then has a loading capacity of 96 TEU. It replaces around 70 trucks with each trip. The push convoys previously used on the Elbe Lateral Canal must be separated at the Scharnebeck ship lift and channeled in two parts. The Hanseatic League as a single driver is significantly faster due to the reduced lockdown time.

The barge was chartered by the DBR and is used on the Hamburg – Braunschweig route in addition to the five existing weekly departures with push convoys. The Hanseatic League covers the 179 km route between Hamburg and Braunschweig in 24 hours.
