Hanse is a computer game developed by Ralf Glau and Bernd Westphal from 1986.

The trading simulation , first published by Ariolasoft in 1986 , is suitable for one to six players. Starting from Lübeck , the Queen of the Hanseatic League , the player can set up new branches, build warehouses and ships , and trade with other Hanseatic cities .

The game was re-released as a remake in 1994 by Ascon (later Ascaron ) under the title Hanse - Die Expedition . Other games, such as The Patrician , are based on the game principle and can be described as successors.

The development time including research was nine months. Research was carried out in the Lübeck city library for half a year. Ralf Glau comes from Lübeck himself .

Versions for C64 , Atari ST , CPC , MS-DOS and Amiga have been released. The CPC version was written by Ralf Glau in BASIC , time-critical parts were programmed in machine language. Bernd Westphal wrote the C64 version on the basis of the CPC version, the Atari ST version was developed by Ralf Glau and Bernd Westphal in ST Pascal .
