Hansmartin Hüssner

Hansmartin Hüssner (* 1953 in Wiesenbronn ; † May 29, 2006 ) was a German geologist (sedimentology of carbonate rocks) and paleontologist with a focus on fossil reefs.

From 1975 Hüssner studied geology and palaeontology at the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich with a diploma under Franz Fürsich in 1980 (diploma thesis on the microfacies of Jurassic limestones of the Apennines ) and received his doctorate in 1985 under Erik Flügel at the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg (Jurassic carbonates of the western High Atlas - microfaces analysis and plate tectonic framework). In 1989 he became Adolf Seilacher's assistant in Tübingen, where he completed his habilitation in 1995 ( Reefs, an elementary principle with many complex realizations ). In 1995 he became a professor at the Goethe University in Frankfurt am Main .
