Hansruedi Müller (born March 31, 1947 in Buchs SG ) has been President of Swiss Athletics , the Swiss Athletics Federation, since 2006 and presides over the Board of Directors of the European Athletics Championships , which took place in Zurich in August 2014 .

Müller was tourism professor at the Faculty of Economics and Social Sciences at the University of Bern until 2012 and headed the Research Institute for Leisure and Tourism (FIF) at the University of Bern from 1989 to 2012. He is considered a pioneer in the discussion about sustainable tourism development and created the three-stage quality program for Swiss tourism in 1996 together with the most important stakeholders.

Müller originally did an apprenticeship as an operational planner at the Swiss Federal Railways , coordinated freight transport advertising at the General Directorate from 1976–1981, obtained the Federal Matura on the second educational path and completed his studies at the University of Bern in 1985 as Dr. rer. pole.

Müller has been a board member at Schweizer Berghilfe since 2012 and chairs its project committee. He is also a board member of Artisana, the association for the promotion of the health care system and co-owner of Helsana . He regularly writes columns for the Berner Zeitung on sports and leisure.
