Hanzhong Basin

The Hanzhong Basin (Ch. Hànzhōng Péndì 汉中 盆地 "Hanzhong Basin" or Hànzhōng Píngyuán 汉中 平原 "Hanzhong Plain") is a basin in southern Shaanxi on the upper reaches of the Han River . It begins in the west in Wuhou Township in Mian County of Hanzhong and extends eastward to Longtingpu 龙亭 铺 in Yang County . Its length is approx. 100 km, the width from south to north approx. 5 to 20 kilometers, its area approx. 1000 square kilometers, it is approx. 500 m above sea level. Its surface is relatively flat, it is also known as the "granary of southern Shaanxi". In the north it is bordered by the Qin Ling Mountains and in the south by the Daba Shan Mountains .
