The Daba Shan or Daba Mountains ( Chinese 大巴山 , also known as Ba Shan 巴山 for short in Chinese) is a mountain range in southwest China on the northern edge of the Sichuan Basin .
In a narrower sense, Daba Shan refers to the mountains located in the border area of the provinces of Sichuan and Shaanxi and extending in the east to the west of the Hubei province . It forms the watershed of the Han Jiang (汉江) and Jialing Jiang (嘉陵江) rivers . The mountain is average 1300- 2000 m high, its highest peak, the Dashennongjia (大神农架) is in Shennongjia - forest area of Hubei, he has an altitude of 3053 m .
In a broader sense, it extends over areas of the provinces of Sichuan, Shaanxi, Gansu and Hubei and is bounded by the Sichuan Basin and Hanzhong Basin .
The Dabashan (大巴山 自然保护区) nature reserve belonging to Chongqing is on the state list of Chinese nature reserves .
Pinus henryi (Chinese 巴山 松) and Abies fargesii (巴山 冷杉) are named after the mountains in Chinese.
