Hao Haidong ( Chinese 郝海東 , Pinyin Hǎo Hǎidōng ; born August 25, 1970 in Qingdao , Shandong ) is a former Chinese football player and currently president of Tianjin Songjiang . His most successful time was at Dalian Shide , where he scored 78 goals in 8 years of playing. Haidong is considered to be one of the best footballers China has produced, and with 41 goals he is currently the record scorer for the Chinese national team .
Career
In China
Hao started his career at Bayi FC , where he had previously played in his youth. Haidong benefited from the increasing professionalism of Chinese football and was able to continuously improve his skills. Because of his good performance, he was signed by the reigning master Dalian Shide in 1997 for the club-internal record fee of 2,220,000 yuan.
His first season at Dalian Shide was successful, with his new club he won the championship and the Chinese Super Cup FA as well as the Golden Shoe and the Golden Ball. In the following years he was able to collect other titles and was also “Der Chinese Alan Shearer " called.
Sheffield United
In January 2005, when Hao was already close to the end of his career, the English club Sheffield United expressed interest in his commitment, but not for sporting reasons, but for marketing reasons. Sheffield saw great potential in the Asian crowd and Dalian Shide was cooperative due to Haidong's past achievements and so the transfer was carried out for the symbolic sum of one pound. At Sheffield, however, he was never used due to injuries and worked mostly as a youth coach before ending his career in 2007.
controversy
Even if Hao can look back on a successful career, he was occasionally noticed by unsportsmanlike conduct. For example, on July 31, 1994, during a league game against Guangdong Hongyuan, he was involved in a fight with Craig Allardyce , whereupon both were suspended from the game by the Chinese Football Association for six months. This also meant that Hao could not participate with the national team in the 1994 Asian Games . On March 15, 1998, he was suspended for two games after attacking a player, and he received a one-year ban from the Asian Football Association after spitting on a referee.
