Harald Baum

Harald Baum (born May 13, 1952 in Hamburg ) is a German lawyer and university professor .

Life

He studied in Hamburg and at the Albert Ludwig University of Freiburg . After his admission to the bar (Hamburg, 1981) and his doctorate in Hamburg (1984), he has been a research assistant at the Max Planck Institute for Comparative and International Private Law since 1985 . After completing his habilitation in Hamburg (2004), he has been a professor at the University of Hamburg since 2010 .

His main research interests are Japanese law, German and European trade and Business law, in particular company and capital market law, international private and procedural law, comparative law.

In 2019, Baum was awarded the Eugen and Ilse Seibold Prize of the German Research Foundation .
