Harald Bodenschatz

Harald Bodenschatz (* 1946 in Munich ) is a German social scientist and urban planner .

Life

Bodenschatz studied sociology, political science, psychology and economics at the LMU Munich and the FU Berlin between 1967 and 1972 . Since 1972 he has worked as an employee in teaching and research, first at RWTH Aachen University , and later at TU Berlin . In 1978 Bodenschatz received his doctorate from the University of Oldenburg . His dissertation deals with the topic of urban land reform in Italy. The dispute over land law and Bolognese municipal planning. In 1986 he completed his habilitation at the Technical University of Berlin with the text Platz frei für das neue Berlin! History of urban renewal since 1871. From 1995 until his release he was Professor of Planning and Architectural Sociology at the TU Berlin.

Bodenschatz has been involved in urban renewal planning since 1980, and has been on the list of town planners of the Berlin Chamber of Architects since 1985 . Teaching and research stays took him to Italy, Brazil, USA, Peru, Argentina and England, in Rio de Janeiro and Lima (Peru) he was visiting professor in 1997 and 2000 respectively. Bodenschatz has been a member of the editorial team of "Die alte Stadt" magazine since 1993.

He has published numerous publications on urban renewal , urban redevelopment and urban planning and urban construction history.
