Harald Kühle (* 1957 in Northeim ) is a former German politician ( SPD ) and was mayor of the southern Lower Saxony city ​​of Northeim from 2006 to 2013 .

Life path

After his school days in Northeim and Göttingen, he studied in Hanover with a degree as a social worker / social pedagogue.

In 1982 Kühle joined the SPD, from 1982 to 1986 he was chairman of the Northeim Young Socialists ( Jusos ). Since 1986, Kühle was a member of the Northeim City Council; since 2001 member of the administrative committee and since 2004 parliamentary group chairman of the SPD. During his membership in the council, Kühle was active in various committees (e.g. economic committee). Since 1994 he has been chairman of the Youth, Sport and Social Affairs Committee. In 2006 he ran for Mayor of Northeim. The then 49-year-old managing director of the Diakonieverband Göttingen won in the runoff election of September 24, 2006 against incumbent Irnfried Rabe (FDP) and left office in February 2013. At the same time he left his party after more than 30 years.

Harald Kühle is married and has two grown children.
