Harald Koch (politician, 1954)

Harald Koch (born September 11, 1954 in Sangerhausen ) is a German politician (formerly Die Linke ). He was a member of the German Bundestag from 2009 to 2013 .

The trained chemical specialist who worked at the Leuna works earned a degree in economics from the Humboldt University in Berlin in 1986 . As an SED member (1976–1990) , he filled various political functions in his hometown of Sangerhausen. 1991–2004 member of the SPD , 2005–2007 of the WASG and since then of the party Die Linke, he continued to hold public offices in the Sangerhausen / Südharz area.

As a direct candidate in constituency 75 (Mansfeld), he entered the German Bundestag in the 2009 Bundestag election . There he was a full member of the Finance Committee and the Defense Committee . He was also a deputy member of the Committee on Food, Agriculture and Consumer Protection.

In July 2014, Harald Koch was expelled from the Die Linke party because he had run a district election to compete with the candidate nominated by his own party.

Koch is married and has three grown children.
