Harald Scheel

Harald Scheel (born before 1976) is a German linguist . He teaches as a research assistant at the Institute for Applied Linguistics and Translatology (IALT) at the University of Leipzig .

Life

In 1976, Harald Scheel began studying English and French as a qualified linguist at the Theoretical and Applied Linguistics (TAS) section of Karl Marx University (today: University of Leipzig), which he successfully completed four years later. He then completed a research course, during which he received his doctorate magna cum laude in 1983. In the following years he worked as a research assistant at the TAS section before he took over the management of the German lecturing department at the University of Timișoara in 1988 .

In 1990 he returned to the TAS section as a lecturer and from 1991 headed the French Linguistics and Translation Studies department, where he was responsible for training in all French-specific courses. Finally, since 1992 he has been a research assistant at IALT, where he teaches language and translation studies as well as translation, and he also holds regular courses at various European universities. Since 1991 he has participated in several Tempus projects and multilateral projects in which he collaborated with cultural institutes in Eastern Europe. He is also a member of the examination board and the study commission of the Philological Faculty.

Services

In addition to his work as a research assistant at IALT, Scheel is a founding member of the consortium and responsible for the Master Européen en Traduction spécialisée (METS for short). He is also developing a double master ’s project in collaboration with the Marc Bloch University .
