The Harbin Grand Theater or Harbin Opera House (Chinese: 哈尔滨 大 剧院; Pinyin: Hā'ěrbīn Dàjùyuàn) is a center for performing arts in Harbin ( Heilongjiang Province ) in the People's Republic of China . It has an area of ​​850,349 square meters and was designed by the well-known Chinese architect Ma Yansong .

The theater is located in Harbin, which has been selected as a " City of Music " by UNESCO . The Harbin Summer Music Concert takes place here every year and China's first orchestra was founded in the metropolis . The building is the heart of Harbin's Culture Island - an arts center on Songhua Jiang , within the suburbs of Harbin.

The Harbin Grand Theater includes a number of venues. These include a large theater with 1,538 seats, a small theater with 414 seats and public spaces. Architect Ma Yansong states that its snow-white structure has a calming aesthetic, unlike modern landmarks in Chinese cities, which are often towering and imposing. The architect emphasized the building's integration into nature as an extension of the surrounding wetlands, waterways and snow-covered landscapes in this cool region of China.

The building has been nominated for a number of international architecture awards. It won u. a. the ArchDaily Award 2016 as Building of the Year.
