Hardcore Will Never Die, But You Will. is the seventh studio album by the Scottish post-rock band Mogwai . It was released in 2011 on the band's own label Rock Action and Sub Pop .

Creation and publication

The album was recorded in the summer of 2010 at Chem 19 Studios in Hamilton ; Luke Sutherland , Andrew Lazonby, Domenico Loiacano, Kate Braithwaite and Kim Supajirawatananon participated as guest musicians. Hardcore Will Never Die, But You Will. was mixed at Castle of Doom and mastered by Greg Calbi at Sterling Sound. Paul Savage produced the album with the band. A limited edition bonus CD was also released containing a 20-minute piece composed for an installation by Douglas Gordon and Olaf Nicolai .

Style and reception

Matthias Olejnik from metal.de says: "Without grandiose sounds, widescreen jingles and distorting jingling, MOGWAI have created an album that [sic!] Is absolutely coherent and just offers perfectly played and arranged, open-hearted post-rock." Heather Phares von Allmusic describes the album as subtle and structured, at times graceful and emotional. It awards four out of five stars. Rolling Stone's Bob Sheffield still thinks the band is resourceful even after 16 years. The eclipsed magazine picked Hardcore Will Never Die, But You Will. in his list of the 150 most important prog albums.
