Luke Sutherland

Luke Sutherland (* 1971 in London ) is a Scottish author and musician born in England .

biography

Sutherland was raised in Orkney and Blairgowrie , Perth and Kinross by his Scottish adoptive parents who moved from Lincolnshire to Scotland in 1876 . He attended Glasgow University , where he studied English acting. He is a musician and songwriter and was a founding member of Long Fin Killie, with whom he released three albums. He then founded the band Bows, which released two albums. As a member of the band Mogwai , he played the violin and accompanied her on several tours. Music AM, Jomi Massage and We Can Love You are his current music projects.

Sutherland's debut novel, Jelly Roll , was nominated for the 1998 Whitbread Prize for the first novel category. His novella Venus As A Boy (2004) extensively recounts Sutherland's own childhood in the Orkney Islands, where he was the only Scottish African.
