Hargreaves is an impact crater on the front of the moon , southwest of Mare Spumans , southeast of Webb crater, and west of Maclaurin . The irregularly shaped crater covers the southern wall of the Maclaurin H secondary crater .
The crater was officially named by the IAU in 1979 after the British astronomer Frederick James Hargreaves .
