Hari Pahlawan ( English Warriors' Day , Chinese 国家 纪念日) is a memorial day in Malaysia , which is celebrated annually on July 31st.

On "Heroes' Remembrance Day", Malaysia commemorates the soldiers who died during the Second World War . At the same time, the choice of date commemorates the end of the twelve-year state of emergency in 1960. In a broader sense, the national holiday is dedicated to the memory of all those who gave their lives for their country in the course of Malaysia's history.

The largest single celebration is held at the Tugu Negara , the national monument in Lake Gardens , in the presence of the Yang di-Pertuan Agong and the Prime Minister, as well as high representatives from the police force and the military .

The celebrations in the individual states are usually held at specially designated monuments; in Sabah , for example, the Tugu Pahlawan Kota Kinabalu was built in 2003 .
