The Harmer Glacier is a 5 km long glacier on South Georgia . It flows from Starbuck Peak in a south-westerly direction and flows into the South Atlantic immediately north of Ranvik Bay on the south coast of the island .
The South Georgia Survey mapped it as part of its surveying campaign, which lasted from 1951 to 1957. The UK Antarctic Place-Names Committee named it in 1958 after the British zoologist Sidney Frederic Harmer (1862-1950), who had been a member of the advisory committee of the British Discovery Investigations from 1924 to 1942 .
