The Harmersbachtalbahn is a 10.6 km long branch line that branches off from the Black Forest Railway in Biberach (Baden) and ends in Oberharmersbach- Riersbach and is operated by the SWEG .

history

It was opened on December 15, 1904 by the construction and operating company Vering & Waechter in Berlin , from which it was transferred on April 1, 1917 to the Deutsche Eisenbahn-Betriebsgesellschaft AG . Since 1963 it has belonged to the state-owned Südwestdeutsche Landesverkehrs-AG (SWEG), which still operates the route today.

Since December 2005, individual journeys beyond Biberach to and from Offenburg have been linked. Rail traffic is supplemented by a parallel SWEG bus line that was operated by a local subcontractor until 2019. SWEG has been operating the bus transport itself since 2019.

Since December 2014, the route has no longer been operated independently by SWEG, but as a service ordered by the state of Baden-Württemberg under a transport contract . At the same time, the offer was condensed to an almost hourly cycle.
