Live and act

Monro was not only a poet himself, but in his capacity as the owner of a bookstore he was also the publisher and editor of volumes of poetry and the magazine The Poetry Review , with which he helped many hitherto unknown poets to break through. His collaboration with Edward Marsh on editing the volumes of Georgian Poetry is particularly noteworthy .

Monro published his first own poems in 1906. He started his business in 1912. Though homosexual, he was married twice. In 1917 he was called up for military service. His health, which was already badly affected during the war, continued to suffer from alcoholism, which contributed to his death.
