Harry Sambou

Harry PF Sambou , called "Boy Harry" also Pa Harry Sambou , (* 20th century) is a Gambian civil servant, diplomat and politician.

Life

Harry Sambou initially worked for the National Intelligence Agency (NIA). He was then sent as the Gambian ambassador by the government as High Commissioner to Abuja in Nigeria. After returning from Nigeria, Sambou became Deputy State Secretary in the Ministry of Health ( English deputy permanent secretary at the Department of State for Health ). He held this position from at least February 2002 to the beginning of January 2003, when he was dismissed as Deputy State Secretary.

As a result of the coup attempt in March 2006, in which President Jammeh had made some personnel decisions, Sambou was reappointed acting General Director of the National Intelligence Agency. At the same time, Ngorr Secka was appointed Deputy General Manager. In November 2006, Sambou was released from the NIA and detained in Mile 2 Central Prison. His deputy at the time, Momodou Hydara , was appointed acting General Director of the NIA.

In August 2007 Sambou was part of a Gambian delegation of the West African Economic Community (ECOWAS), which had the task of observing the presidential and parliamentary elections in Sierra Leone .

In September Sambou was State Secretary in the Office of the President ( English permanent secretary at the Office of the President ), in December of the same year until February 2012 State Secretary in the Ministry of Defense ( English permanent secretary, Ministry of Defense ).

He is said to be in exile in Senegal at the beginning of January 2016.
