Golden triangle

As Golden triangle (German Golden Triangle ) is an unofficial grouping of six (also eight) research universities in the South East of England in the United Kingdom called. The corners of the triangle are formed by the cities of London , Oxford and Cambridge .

The Golden triangle consists of the University of Cambridge and the University of Oxford as well as Imperial College London , University College London , King's College London and the London School of Economics . The London Business School and the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine are also included less frequently as seventh and eighth universities.

The members of the triangle are among the most research-intensive British universities and collaborate in various alliances such as G5, GMEC, MedCity or SES and are all part of the Russell Group . In 2014 they brought in just under 46% British research funding, which has been criticized in many places. The individual foundation assets range from around £ 100 million at UCL to over £ 5 billion at Oxford University.
