Life

Brie studied Romance and English in Freiburg, Munich, Glasgow and Naples. He completed his studies with the 1st and 2nd state exams and a doctorate. He then worked as a lecturer (DAAD) for German at the Universities of Naples and Lille. He worked for 11 years in educational aid in Africa (Benin, DR Congo, Sudan, Togo, Niger) and taught at the respective universities and elite schools (ENS, ENA). In recognition of his missions in Africa, he was awarded the national order of Grand Officer of Sudan, Officer of Bénin . Brie was chairman of the FDA regional association Baden-Württemberg (Free German Authors' Association) for six years and is a member of the Society for Contemporary Poetry , Leipzig.

Four of the eight volumes of poetry were published in cooperation with painters. It is important to him to open up poetry towards a total work of art.

He has read repeatedly at the Leipzig Book Fair, most recently in 2011 in the forum in the exhibition hall and in the Gohliser Schlößchen. In November 2012 he read at the Stuttgart Book Weeks. In 2013 he moderated the Stuttgart Book Weeks. With his idiosyncratic style and imagery, the poet has given contemporary poetry new impulses, including on social issues of a global nature (Africa, Afghanistan, China). The political poems are clear in their message. Allusions and suggestion are important. His idea of poetry is not a gimmick with anything, but rather a serious, reflective way of opening up contemporary poetry through thought poetry, mostly formally combined with rhymes, to open up a new dimension of the visionary-critical.
