Hartmut Sangmeister

Hartmut Sangmeister (* 1945 in Fulda ) is a German economist . Until August 2012 he was Professor of Development Economics at Heidelberg University . From September 2012 to August 2016 he was President of the University of Economics, Technology and Culture (HWTK), with study locations in Berlin and Baden-Baden. His research is mainly in the field of development policy; his regional research focus is Latin America.

Sangmeister received the teaching award of the state of Baden-Württemberg in 2003, and in 2009 he was awarded the Gold Medal of Merit by the Rhein-Neckar Chamber of Commerce and Industry. From 2012 to 2017 he was a member of the Board of Trustees of the Fridtjof Nansen Academy for Civic Education at the Ingelheim Training Center .
