Hartmut Weule

Hartmut Weule (born October 1, 1940 in Bitterfeld ) is a German process engineer and professor emeritus at the Institute for Machine Tools and Industrial Engineering (wbk) of the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (formerly: University of Karlsruhe).

Career

Weule studied mechanical engineering from 1960 to 1967, specializing in precision engineering and control engineering at the Technical University of Braunschweig . After positions at Daimler-Benz AG in Sindelfingen, he became professor at the University of Karlsruhe in 1982 . In 1990 he returned to Daimler-Benz AG for seven years as Board Member for Research and Technology. From 1997 he worked again as professor and institute director of the wbk at the University of Karlsruhe. There he built up the International Department of the University of Karlsruhe with English-language courses in mechanical engineering and electrical engineering. In 2000 he initiated the Hector Seminar with Hans-Werner Hector and Friedrich Hirsch. In 2005 Weule received the Order of Merit 1st Class of the Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany. In 2006 he was made an academic honorary citizen.
