Harvey Carignan
Harvey Carignan aka The Hammer (born May 18, 1927 in Fargo , North Dakota ) is an American serial killer .
In 1949 Carignan was sentenced to death for the murder of a woman . The death sentence was commuted to imprisonment for procedural errors. In 1960 he was pardoned. He served several sentences over the next few years. From 1972 to 1975 he raped and killed several women by beating them with a hammer. In 1975 Carignan was finally arrested again and sentenced to life imprisonment .
