Waldemar Slomiany (born November 1, 1943 in Ruda Śląska ) is a former German football player of Polish origin.

Live and act

Slomiany, who began his sporting career with Górnik Zabrze and later moved to Germany, played 98 times in the Bundesliga between 1967 and 1972 for FC Schalke 04 and Arminia Bielefeld , scoring 11 goals. Slomiany became known especially for his involvement in the Bundesliga scandal in 1971.

Slomiany, who only moved from Schalke to Bielefeld in the 1970/71 season , had made contact with Schalke players in order to determine the outcome of the Schalke - Bielefeld game on April 17, 1971 in advance. In total, he handed over 40,000 marks from Arminia Bielefeld to Schalke players who were supposed to ensure a victory for Arminia. In fact, the game ended with a 1-0 win for Bielefeld. Slomiany is said to have received 130,000 marks in retrospect as hush money from Schalke players so that he would not testify against them in court.

Waldemar Slomiany was suspended in the negotiations of the Bundesliga scandal from April 8, 1972 to July 31, 1974.
